Hall of Shame No. 1

ETSY IS RUN BY AN INFANTILE HACKER

Q. Wait, anyone can upload code? At anytime? Has this ever gone awry?
A. Of course! We do blameless postmortems about it all the time — which is incredibly important. We believe that if you have a blameless process, you actually get to the root of the problem quicker and people don’t feel like they have to hide information. We don’t enjoy making mistakes, but we give an award to the person who makes the most spectacle mistake.
Q. What kind of awards?
A. We had a three-armed sweater made for one of our engineers who committed the most spectacular mistake of the year. He essentially disabled any Etsy employee from accessing the site.

My 2 Bits

Having been an Etsy Shop owner since 2009, I find the levity with which Etsy's CEO Chad Dickerson treats the mechanics of the site and his overall attitude toward business as a hacking amusement park very disenchanting.

I have closed all but 2 of my Etsy shops. No one needs to wonder why the Search Ad Keywords programs are a rip-off with the interrupting of the interface an on going joke at the highest levels of management and oversight. I wondered why after all my products were tagged with 'social media' and 'social media help' that they gave me as keywords: 'social medium' -  Really???

Truly an infantile empire finally letting their true colors show. Color me stupid once, but no more of my hard earned dollars will be lining your jokester halls. And, I plan on spreading the word about your business practices far and wide.
